Lola’s SVG now offering Sunday brunches

Lola’s SVG now offering Sunday brunches

Having recently hit their one-year mark, Lola’s SVG, a popular bistro here, has decided to try its hand at Sunday brunches.

“The brunch is something that we’ve always wanted to do,” manager and co-owner Leslie Jack told SEARCHLIGHT during an interview on Tuesday.

He said they did not start the brunches before, because they were new in the business and wanted to ensure that they were running efficiently from Monday through Saturday.

Jack said that he and the staff decided to begin permanently serving Sunday brunches around Carnival, because some of the customers, mostly visitors from the diaspora, asked about it last year.

Their doors would open at 10 a.m. and while Sunday brunch finishes at 3 p.m, the business would remain open until 7 p.m.

“There’s not a lot of key places in town that are open on Sundays, so we decided to open on Sundays going forward,” Jack commented.

The brunch menu comprises baked chicken, grilled fish, steamed fish, stir fried chicken, stir fried beef, sweet and sour chicken and sweet and sour fish. Customers would also have a choice from a variety of sides, which include rice, pie, stewed callaloo, breadfruit, corn pie and much more.

A breakfast menu would also be available. It would consist of breakfast in any style, including shark, salt fish with doughboy, toast, eggs and any dessert to satisfy the sweet tooth.

Everything on the breakfast menu comes with a complimentary beverage, such as tea or juice.

Jack further mentioned that the bistro will also present a Carnival special throughout June and July. The special consists of roast chicken, chicken and fish wraps, with sides of Cajun potatoes, fries or salad.

Also on the menu are stir-fried beef and chicken and sweet and sour chicken or fish, all with a side of either rice or spaghetti. However, the normal breakfast and “all-day” menus would continue.

The restaurant will also be open for the entire Carnival weekend.

“We would not be closing at all; hence why we decided to add some different pieces to the menu specifically for Carnival.”

Lola’s would open from Friday, July 8, at 7 a.m. and close at 10 p.m. on Monday, July 10.

Jack told SEARCHLIGHT that the restaurant has received a lot of positive feedback and noted that they pride themselves in providing good customer service.

“Not just the staff meeting you and greeting you, but also the ensuring of quality food, so we’ve done a number of things to improve…. I would like to say thanks to all of the customers that have supported us during the year.”

Lola’s SVG, which is located on Halifax Street (Back Street) opposite the Ministry of Transport and Works, has a social media presence on Facebook and Instagram. They are working on a website, which will be launched in September. Lola’s will also be having mobile food stations at rural Carnival events. Lola’s can be reached at telephone no. 457-5652. (AS)
