Saints go marching on NLA Twenty/20
Guardian General Saints are making sure that they are among the numbers, when the semi-finalists of the National Lotteries Authority Neil Williams Twenty/20 Cricket Competition emerge.{{more}}
Saints, last weekend, added back-to-back wins, as they stay unbeaten in Group B of the competition.
On Saturday, Saints humbled Police One at the Sion Hill Playing Field and returned on Sunday at the same venue to beat Carl Joseph Law Chambers ASCO.
Batting first against Police One, Saints scored 151 for 5 from their 20 overs, with Romell Currency striking 55. At their turn, Police One were dismissed for 100.
Then on Sunday, Saints again batted first and registered 156 for 7 from their 20 overs; Romell Currency made 38 and Zane Edwards â 37.
Bowling for ASCO, Deron Greaves picked up 3 for 32.
Despite Deron Greavesâ valiant effort of 89 not out, ASCO fell short by 24 runs, dismissed for 133 in 19.4 overs. The left-handed Greaves slammed seven fours and six sixes, but his fellow batsmen failed in supporting his knock.
The combined bowling of Rolando Wright â 2 for 16, Nesron Samuel – 2 for 21 and Kenlon Davis â 2 for 31, resulted in Saints recording their fifth straight win, while ASCO were suffering their first defeat in this yearâs competition.
Saturdayâs other results saw Lime Radcliffe, Northern Stars and the News Spartan triumphant.
Radcliffe, on the back of Rodney Lawrenceâs 56 and Lindon Jamesâ 45, reached 206 at Arnos Vale Two.
Bequia Cricket Associationâs response stopped at 132. Cosmus Hackshaw struck 32. Dyke Cato was the pick of Radcliffeâs bowling, taking 4 for 27. Northern Stars overcame Radcliffe Too at Arnos Vale One by seven wickets. Radcliffe Too scored 105, as Kensley Joseph top scored with 32. Bowling for Northern Stars, Javon Samuel snared 4 for 32. Northern Stars replied with 106 for 3. Elron Lewis led the scoring with 30. And at the Stubbs Playing Field, Spartans got past KCCU Triumph United by 28 runs. Kurtland Davy posted 56 and Dawnley Grant was 45 not out, to lead Spartans to 182 for 7 from their maximum 20 overs. Triumph Unitedâs innings ended at 154.(RT)
