Stubbs man killed in Grenada
FOR THE SECOND TIME this year, a Vincentian living abroad has been shot and killed. The latest Vincentian to succumb to gun violence overseas is Joshwin “Hawkeye” Morgan who died in Dominica after being shot on the night of Sunday, June 14,2026.
Information is sketchy, but reports so far are that the former Stubbs resident was riding in a vehicle in the Portsmouth area (north of the island near Tibay Villas), when the vehicle came under gunfire and went over an embankment.
After the incident, recordings began making the rounds on social media showing the bullet- ridden car.
On April 20, 2026, 22-year-old Vincentian footballer, Shamarie Baptiste, was fatally shot in the neck by an armed assailant at a bar in Lime Kiln, St. Kitts. A suspect, Ketwan Hamilton, has been charged with the murder of Baptiste.
The fatal shooting of Vincentian nationals abroad has occurred in several regional countries, primarily stemming from targeted attacks, robberies, and suspected cross-border illicit activities. Notable recent incidents include, Elvis Dexter Chance, 51. Chance, originally from Chateaubelair was
shot dead while sitting in a vehicle in Woburn, St. George in Grenada in September 2023. Chance was a well-known figure who had previously been embroiled in high-profile drug cases in the region.
In June 2022, in the British Virgin Islands (BVI), Corey Butler, a 35-year-old national from St.Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG), was gunned down in Road Town,Tortola.This marked one of several violent incidents impacting Vincentian expats in the BVI over the years.
In Trinidad and Tobago on August 17, 2022, Owannie Hutchinson, 21, was at Snake Valley, Laventille, working on a house that was being renovated, when he was ambushed around 2:25 p.m and shot. He died on the spot.
