Ministry of National Security kicks off Public Service Week today
Press Release
June 16, 2026

Ministry of National Security kicks off Public Service Week today

THE MINISTRY OF National Security, through the Public Sector Reform Unit (PSRU), said it will be observing Public Service Day on June 23, 2026, with the hosting of a week of activities from today, June 16 to 23, 2026. This year’s observance is being held under the United Nations theme: “Transforming Public Institutions: Advancing Innovation, Participation and Inclusion”.

Honouring the dedication of public servants, Public Service Day, observed annually on June 23, in accordance with the United Nations General Assembly Resolution 57/277, serves as a globally recognised opportunity to celebrate the dedication, professionalism, and invaluable contributions of public officers to national development, the ministry states in a release.

“This year’s observance reaffirms the commitment of the Government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines to acknowledging the men and women who deliver essential services to citizens every day.” The release adds that the public service week of activities provides a dynamic platform to promote innovation, collaboration, and citizen-centred service delivery across the Public Service of St.Vincent and the Grenadines.

“Through a diverse programme of events, the week will bring together serving officers, retirees, interns, church communities, and the wider public in a collective celebration of public service excellence.”

The 2026 UN theme “Transforming Public Institutions: Advancing Innovation, Participation and Inclusion” underscores the importance of modernising how governments work, ensuring that public

institutions are responsive, transparent, and accessible to all citizens. It calls on public servants at every level to embrace innovation, actively involve citizens in decision-making, and champion inclusive service delivery that leaves no one behind.

The PSRU has extended an invitation to all ministries and departments, public officers, retirees, and citizens to embrace this theme as both an inspiration and a call to action during this week of commemoration.

The church service to start off the week of activities will be held at the New Testament Church at Wilson Hill from 8:30 a.m. on June 16, 2026. There will also be a service Digital Innovation Forum on June 18, at the Methodist Church Hall, Kingstown; and a Public Service Internship Programme on June 18 and 18, 2026 running from 8:00 p.m to 4:15 p.m daily.

Public servants Appreciation Day will be held on June 19, and there will be a recognition of public servants on June 20 and 21, 2026.

A public speaking competition involving eight ministries, will take place on June 22 from 1:00 p.m; and on June 23 there will be a march and street exhibition from 9:00 a.m at the car park at Heritage Square.
