Electrical Inspectorate modernising operations
THE GOVERNMENT’S ELECTRICAL INSPECTORATE Department has taken a major step towards modernization with the official launch of the Electrical Inspectorate Management Information System (EIMIS) on April 13, 2026 at the conference room of the Ministry of Transport.
The new online platform represents a shift away from traditional, manual processes toward a more technologically advanced system designed to better serve citizens.
Chief Electrical Inspector Hetlyn Francis, highlighted the need for transformation within the department, noting that outdated manual systems were no longer sufficient to meet the growing demands of the sector. She explained that the introduction of EIMIS includes key changes such as categorized licensing, and the replacement of the traditional record book with a more secure and efficient cardbased system. Francis said these improvements are expected to promote greater transparency, strengthen accountability, and significantly enhance operational efficiency. Also, that they recognized the need to modernize their operations by moving away from outdated manual systems to “…introducing categorized licensing, and replacing the traditional record book with a more secure and efficient card-based system”.
Francis further explained that the system will not only improve record-keeping but would also enable more effective monitoring of electrical works across the country.
