The ‘Memory of the World’ workshop featured discussions on the vulnerabilities of Caribbean memory institutions to natural disasters as well as guidance on the emergency response for archives, libraries and media organizations.

A number of local media personnel, particularly broadcasters, were in attendance at the workshop to participate in discussions on the media’s role in documentary heritage protection as well as best practices for forming partnerships between memory institutions and the media.

Speaking at the opening ceremony held at Beachcombers Hotel on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, Secretary-General, Nation Commission for UNESCO SVG, Janeil Henry-Rose, made reference to the recent saga affecting the Ministry of Education following the relocation of employees due to mould and other health concerns made public by their representative trade union.

She noted that paper documentation raises the question of perseveration and storage.
