Gardener sentenced for hitting client with stone and shovel
A young gardener who struck his client on the head with a stone, wrestled him on the ground, then struck him twice with a shovel, was given a suspended sentence and ordered to pay compensation.
Kevin Garraway, 24, of New Montrose appeared at the Kingstown Magistrate’s Court before Senior Magistrate, Tammika McKenzie on April 25, 2025, where he was charged that on April 10, 2025 he unlawfully and maliciously wounded Tyrone Stewart of Largo Height.
Stewart knows Garraway very well. Before this incident, they had never got into any altercation.
Stewart usually hires Garraway to do any labouring work around his house in New Montrose.
Stewart hired Garraway to trim his back yard at New Montrose about three months ago. However, Stewart made checks and discovered that no work had been done.
On the date in question, Stewart was at home when Garraway turned up at his gate calling and asking him for EC$20.00. However, Stewart refused him.
