Cecil, Naomi Browne Foundation donates books

Students of the Georgetown Secondary School (GSS) now have access to additional reading material, thanks to the Cecil and Naomi Browne Memorial Foundation.

On Monday, March 13, Foundation director Peronia Browne handed over a collection of books to the school’s library, for the benefit of the current and future generations of students who pass through the institution.{{more}}

Browne said that it was part of the Foundation’s mandate to uplift education in the area, and by extension, St Vincent and the Grenadines. She said that she hoped that the books would be put to good use and wished the students happy reading.

Receiving the books on behalf of the institution was principal Ronald Clarke, who thanked the Foundation for the gesture.

He assured Browne that the books would be used widely and cared for, and wished the Foundation the best in its future endeavours.

In December last year, the Foundation hosted a Christmas party for the children in the Chester Cottage/Georgetown/Byrea and surrounding areas, during which they distributed toys and school materials for the youngsters who attended.

The Cecil and Naomi Browne Memorial Foundation was established in memory of Cecil “Good Hope” Browne and Naomi “Tanty Naomi” Browne, who passed away one year ago.
