Zamfir âMan Zangieâ Adams has emerged as a hero of the Junior Calypso show. He won the Secondary division of the show with his song âSave We Children.â
Man Zangie is from High Road in the central leeward town of Barrouallie. He felt âreal happy and excited,â and thanked his parents Louise and Shelford Adams for encouragement.{{more}}
He beat Denesha Simmons from the Kingstown Multi-Purpose Centre into second with her number âMy situation.â
Third place was shared between Camesha âSinging Meshaâ Hunter from St. Josephâs Convent Marriaqua who did âDem Good Old Days,â and Renecia Louie from the Dr. J. P. Eustace Memorial who performed: âWelcome to my Homeland.â
Man Zangie is into his second year at the Junior Calypso level and also placed third in the Soca category. He attributed his performance in this aspect to help from his brother Kosinski âBusta Skiâ Adams, a finalist in Saturdayâs Soca showdown.
âHe wrote my song,â Man Zangie said. He modestly declared â I think I can sing too.â
He also paid tribute to Corneisha Crooke, a former Junior Soca Monarch, who helped with his production.
Man Zangie plays tennis and volleyball, and admitted to his fondness for drama and poetry.
The other Secondary School Calypso finalists were Jolene âPrincess Joleneâ Bentick from North Union who did âSerious times,â Shazique âPrincess Shazâ John from Dr. J.P. Eustace Memorial: âWelcome to my Homeland,â Veiron Nickie: Georgetown Secondary: âCongratulations,â and last yearâs Primary School winner Franeica Glasgow from Girls High School who did:â âIn my Dreams.â
