Fire the COP says Jomo Thomas
In less than two months, a second lawyer has voiced displeasure with the performance of Commissioner of Police (COP) Enville Williams, with this one calling for his removal from the top spot of the Royal St Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force (RSVGPF).
Speaking on OMG in the Morning radio programme on BOOM SVG 106.9 FM on Monday July 20, 2026, lawyer, journalist and commentator Jomo Thomas, was addressing the commissioner’s statement on the July 17, 2026 triple homicide that took place in Kingstown (Chinatown), yards away from the Central Police Station.
On Saturday, July 18, 2026 Commissioner Williams offered his condolences to the families of the loved ones of the deceased, and said that these murders mark a deeply troubling escalation in the gun violence confronting the country, and informed of a new “play book”.
“So, they have it. To the individuals who executed this hit, and to the criminal networks backing them, you believe you understand how the police force operates. You think you can predict our response, map our patrol, and anticipate our next move based on how things used to be,” the Police Commissioner said, while noting, the “old play book” is closed.
Commenting on Monday, Thomas said that on June 19, 2023 this country recorded its worse public execution when five men were shot dead in the Harbour Club area. He said that COP Williams was elevated to the post of Commissioner of the RSVGPF on October 4, 2023.
