Skerritt back banging

Harley Skerritt is sending a message to national selectors that he wants to be in the reckoning for a recall to the St. Vincent and the Grenadines senior cricket team.

The temperamental left hander struck a century last weekend at the Sion Hill Playing Field to set the platform for Rivals’ outright win by an innings and 164 runs over Eat Rite Saints.{{more}}

Skerritt back after serving a one year ban for an indiscretion found Saints’ bowling palatable and helped himself to the 2007 season’s second century and the first in the RBTT Premier Division.

Skerritt compiled 126.He lashed 15 fours and a six in his rout as Rivals made 291. This followed his 66 versus Victors One in the opening round of competition, the previous weekend. Rolando Wilkinson made 42, Orlanzo Jackson 39 and Calvert Nickie 31. Roger St. John 4 for 45 and Kentish Jacobs 3 for 51, were Saints’ most successful bowlers.

Saints were routed for 75 in their first innings, with Jackson taking his second consecutive five wicket haul, 5 for 38, and Collin Shoy 3 for 14, destroyed Saints’ brittle batting.

Saints fared worse in the second innings, bundled out for 52. Jackson again was the nemesis with 5 for 12 and Shoy 4 for 23.

But while Rivals were taking advantage of Saints, defending champion Police One met newly promoted Police Two. Salvan Browne topscored with 50 and Oneil Thomas 42 as Police One made 159. Renford Jack 3 for 56, Gerald Gould 2 for 17 and Uroy Farrell 2 for 26 conjured to dismiss their opponents. Police Two responded with 126, led by Maxian Richardson’s 25. Calvin Glasgow 4 for 24, Malcovin Jack 2 for 6 and Othniel Baptiste 2 for 40 ensured that Police One earned the eight points. Batting a second time, Police One scored 138, with Browne again leading their batting making 40 and Mc Leon Williams chimed in with 27.Farrell 4 for 21, Breton Smith 2 for 15 and Osrick James 2 for 31, bowling for Police Two.

At their second turn, Police Two reached 119 for 6 when the match was called off. Marlon France was 50 not out and Malcovin Jack with bowling figures of 2 for 27.

At Stubbs, ECGC Radcliffe gained their second straight eight points for their first innings win over the News Spartans.

Mahlon John was the chief architect with 5 for 19, assisted by Dyke Cato 2 for 0 and Dellorn Johnson 2 for 29 as Spartans were dismissed for 119. Darnley Joseph topped Spartans’ batting with 32. Radcliffe surpassed that total reaching 185.Lynden James 51, Austin Mc Dowall 42 and Gofloyd John 30 were the principal scorers. Darnley Grant bagged 5 for 32 and Krishna Da Silva 3 for 49.

Spartans reached 261 for 9 in their second innings. Kissinger Mc Lean hit a blistering 61, Joey Welcome 46, Roger Francois 38 and Uzzah Pope 34. John had figures of 5 for 99 and Cato 2 for 73.

And in the lone fixture played in the Bottlers First Division, Ire Travel Packers brought down Smashers from their heights achieved in the opening match when they gained full points versus Radcliffe Too.

Packers made 149. Mc Neil Morgan 37, Reginald Jeffery 32 and Ian Bushay 25, led their batting. The ever present Kareem Peters 4 for 31 and Marcus Spencer 2 for 80 were Smashers most successful bowlers. At their first turn at the crease, Smashers were bowled out for 69, with Morgan taking 5 for 14 and Jeffery 2 for 36.

With an 80 run lead on first innings, Packers stretched that by making 138 in their second innings, as Kesrick Williams top scored with 62. Keswerth Lewis took 2 for 24 and Marvin Harry 2 for 37 bowling for Smashers.

Asked to make 218 to win, Smashers stopped at 151, with Peters making 42. Bushay grabbed 5 for 34 and Morgan 5 for 56, to give Packers maximum points.
