Taiwan-SVG mark diplomatic milestone with Youth Cultural showcase
A vibrant cross-cultural showcase by a 30-member delegation of Taiwan International Youth Ambassadors has brought fresh energy to the 45-year diplomatic partnership between Taiwan and St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG).
The delegation from the Taiwan International Youth Ambassadors programme arrived in Kingstown on August 26, 2026, in step with the official 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) and Taiwan. Following a welcoming ceremony with Foreign Affairs Minister Dwight Fitzgerald Bramble, the centerpiece cultural exchange event took place at the Peace Memorial Hall on August 27, featuring collaborative performances and remarks from several high-profile individuals, including Minister on Home Assignment for the Department of Latin American and Caribbean Affairs and Head of Delegation, Andy Liu; alongside Director of Culture of SVG Maxine Browne.
The cultural showcase featured dynamic collaborative performances, including traditional and contemporary dances, vocal performances, and musical arrangements presented by the Taiwanese delegation.
In a spirited performance, both Taiwanese and Vincentian participants came together to dance around a pole while singing Vincentian folk songs.
Liu who led the Taiwan delegation, said it was quite a privilege and honour to lead such a group of talented young people from Taiwan to visit this part of the world.
“…ninety nine per cent of us, including my humble self, have never been to this part of the world, so we treasure and we really value our chances to visit here.”
