Police arrest Novice in softball cricket

RSVP Police are proving to be a force to be reckoned with in the National Lotteries Top Belair softball competition.

The lawmen have an unblemished record from their three matches in their debut year.

Their latest victory came against perennial champions CGM Novice last Sunday.{{more}}

Dubbed the match of the competition, Police easily blanked Novice by five wickets. Novice were dismissed for 83 in 18.4 overs, with Gosnel Cupid hitting a top score of 35. Rolando Wright 3 for 12, Kemelus Boyea 2 for 5 and Dominic Stowe 2 for 8, shared the bowling spoils for the members of the local constabulary.

Prolific batsman Salvan Browne made 38 not out, as Police reached 84 for 5 in 10.4 overs.

Also enhancing their standing were N.C.B High Rollers. They eased past Snipers by four wickets.

Snipers posted 120, with Christopher Campbell hitting 28. Frederick Williams bagged 4 for 36, Jimson Gibson 2 for 16 and Keith Garrick 2 for 31 combined to dismiss Snipers.

Dexter Hayseed 32, and Eugene Noel 26, were the main scores for High Rollers who ended on 123 for six in 23.4 overs.

But it was easier for Computec Irie Travel Fair Hall Falcons over Diamond Demolishers. Falcons led by Troy Harry 36 and Dick Haynes 27 propelled Falcons to 144 for 6 in 25 overs. Demolishers reached 61 off 21.2 overs with Guy London (31). Ricky King 2 for 8 was the chief wicket taker.

Gomea Bombers with an all-round input from Rommel Currency blasted Kelbouney Bangers by eight wickets.

Currency bagged 3 for 10, and assisted by Nigel Straugh 2 for 8 and Sylvanus Morgan 2 for 15, halted Bangers’ innings at 72 in 18.2 overs.

Currency top-scored with 29 not out as his team made 73 for two.

Kingstown Hill United who are experiencing a torrid time in this year’s competition, notched up a win over Gairy Construction Stingers.

Kingstown Hill ‘s bowlers restricted Stingers to 71, trying to get the even one hundred to gain maximum points.

Before both Brenton Smith and Dodridge Small hit 28 apiece in Kingstown Hill’s total of 99.

In a double case of co-incidence, Fenton Harry and Keon Gaymes both had bowling figures of 3 for 24, for Stingers.

This weekend’s action will be crucial for several teams as they try to make it to the next phase.

Rivals and Pine Hill Dairy Nice Radio Clinchers open Saturday’s proceedings from 1:15 PM, followed by the ASCO versus Vinlec Shot Callers encounter set to begin at 3:15.

New Track Guys and Dr. Thomas Injectors are scheduled to meet each other from 9: is Sunday. From noon that same day, Aunt Job’s Older Boys and HMP Stars engage each other. The weekend’s feature match will see Smirnoff Sugar Corner Giants meeting East Bank from 3:15.

All matches will be played at the Dauphine Playing Field.
