Not time for protests
29.JUN.07
EDITOR: I am an NDP supporter; my reason for supporting NDP is because of the leader. I think he is a wonderful human being and a true son of the Caribbean civilization. I think this country is better served with Mr. Eustace as Opposition leader, he brings a different kind of opposition to this country thatâs why I think he should concentrate on his constituency. The people of East Kingstown said you are the man, so please serve them with distinction.{{more}}
The NDP had a march in March that went well in my opinion, and they had another march in June. It was poorly attended in terms of what I expected and was told by the NDP. Do the people of SVG think they should march, or are they afraid of victimization? Are there any issues to march about? What we saw in the NDPâs last march were their supporters. I donât think they convinced the people of SVG why they should march, that is why it was so poorly attended. Is this Mr. Eustaceâs style? Is he being forced? I could remember Mr. Eustace saying he doesnât like protest because itâs bad for this country, thatâs why I believe he is being forced. I am convinced things are not going well, and I am hoping that Dr. Gonsalves gets the small things right, because Dr, these small things will be your down fall!
Dr. Gonsalves needs to listen to what is being said by the people of this country: persons talking about VAT, unemployment, crime, drugs, the failing banana industry, foreign policy, crown lands being sold and high airfares. Should we march about these issues? Remember Prime Minister, you promised us that your ministers will report to you and you will let us know whatâs happening, we are still waiting.
One former Prime Minister said politics is an in and out club! I know your legacy is important to you, one thing I could tell you is that your ULP PRO segment needs to be improved on and since Glen left us things are getting worse, ULP needs someone to get the small things right, itâs good you admit something is wrong. There is reason to be concerned about our countryâs development and where it is going – if good comes, all will benefit and if bad comes, all will pay.
