High Voltage rebounds after devastating fire (+Video)
LEADER OF the High Voltage Mas Band, Kingsley “Whiteman” Collis, has restarted costume production for VincyMas 2026 season after a devastating fire earlier this year destroyed more than $38,000 worth of materials and threatened the future of the band. The fire, which occurred in Paul’s Avenue on Friday, April 10, 2026, dealt a major blow to the longstanding carnival band at a time when preparations for the festival were already underway. In an interview with SEARCHLIGHT on Tuesday June 9, 2026, Collis reflected on the emotional and financial toll the disaster had on the mas band.
“The fire has significantly affected us financially, it just obliviated everything and just put us in a different position to wonder if we should actually bring back a band,” Collis said.
At the time of the fire, the band was actively working on a presentation titled “The French Revolution” for VincyMas 2026.
