Anna Young resigns from Invest SVG
Why did the Executive Director (ED) of Invest SVG Anna Young, resign after just four and a half months as head of St Vincent and the Grenadines’ (SVG) official investment promotion agency?
That’s the questions being asked by many people.
On September 15,2026 Young tendered her resignation with immediate effect.
Just a few days before Opposition Leader Dr. Ralph Gonsalves, spoke on radio about a high-ranking female employee of Invest SVG having a flight to South Korea cancelled mid-trip along with the corporate credit card she was carrying.
Dr. Gonsalves described the incident as internationally embarrassing, noting that the someone in government had spoken to an official at the South Korean Embassy, bringing a foreign government into a local issue.
The former prime minister noted that the Invest SVG employee had turned up at the airport to board a flight to South Korea on an investment promotion mission only to find out that their flight had been cancelled and also later found out that the Invest SVG corporate credit card she was carrying had also been cancelled.
The Opposition Leader commented that South Korea was a major G20 economy and incidents like what happened with Invest SVG could damage this country’s reputation on the international stage.
While Dr. Gonsalves did not mention that the affected person was Young, a source close to Invest SVG later pointed to Young as being the affected party and revealed that three other employees of Invest SVG made the trip to South Korea with Young’s being the only flight that was cancelled.
