Fisherman’s Day winners receive their prizes
Winners in this year’s Fisherman’s Day competition received their prizes at a special ceremony on Thursday, May 29, 2026, four days after the big fishing events that culminated month-long activities leading up to Fisherman’s Day. Minister of Fisheries, Conroy Huggins was also present at the ceremony and thanked the winners for their participation in the 2026 Fisherman’s Day activities.
During the event, held in the conference room of the Fisheries Division, upstairs the Kingstown Fish Market winners received prizes including cash, cases of beer, fishing supplies, engine oils, and other gifts. Among those absent were Eli Slater who retained the title of Fisherman of the Year that he also won in 2025, and Oscar Richardson, who placed second overall.
Randolph Bradshaw who landed the single heaviest fish, a kingfish, said his team was not fully prepared for the competition; nevertheless decided to participate.
