Luke Browne, concerned about the future of children of East Kingstown

“We are concerned about the future… and this is a reminder this is a reminder of who we are working for in this party.

We are working for the children of St. Vincent and the Grenadines,” said Luke Browne, the candidate for the Unity Labour Party (ULP) in East Kingstown in the November 27, 2025 general elections. “We are working to make sure that they have a great future. We are working to make sure that they could go to school and learn well and have all the opportunities they need in education to make a success in life.” Browne, who was speaking on Tuesday night, November 18, 2025 at a campaign meeting at Rockies, went on to give an example of his commitment.

“ I think that you could have looked at my actions over the many years that I’ve worked in this constituency as caretaker, and you could look at my actions over the past five years or so as a case in point, and recognize that I will do anything to help to improve the quality of life of people in this community. You could look at my work right here,”Browne stated.

He said in the last five years when he had no position in government, and no income whatsoever from the government, he was still able to maintain a constituency office at Sion Hill. Browne noted that the constituency office was maintained for 15 years, including during the period he was abroad studying law to improve himself, and to improve the quality of representation offered.

“ While I was doing that without any contribution at all from the government I maintained that office and you could contrast that with the example that we see from the other side- the opposition and Fitz Bramble come and open a constituency office at Sion Hill there,” Browne pointed out.

“On the eve of the elections, they open the office and they never went in the office to do any work there. As soon as the election’s done, the office is going to close down again. We do not want representation of gimmicks in East Kingstown.

“If I did it from a position of having limited resources at my disposal, how much more will I do for you when I am your representative in Parliament? How much more will I do for you when I stand on your authority in the Cabinet of St Vincent and the Grenadines?”

The Rhodes scholar rubbished the excuse of opposition candidates for saying that they are not in government and so cannot do anything.

“Let no one hide behind the excuse of not being in government. That is absolute nonsense. If you want to help people, you’re going to find a way to help people. If you want to help people, you’re going to know that where there is a will, there is a way. When I become your representative, I will make a way to improve your lives every single day.

“I do not want to leave anyone behind. I do not want somebody to be unable to get a preschool education because of where they are from or who their family is. I do not want anybody to get a substandard education at the primary school level because of where they are from. I do not want anyone to get a substandard education at the secondary school level because of where they are from. That is why I’m telling you, I’m giving you this commitment tonight that in addition to the work that you do, with your children and in addition to the work that the children do in their schools, I am going to be their teacher in this constituency because I am going to put in place programmes that will make sure that all the children from Rockies and all over East Kingston have the opportunity to pursue their goals in education.” Browne is seeking for the second time, to be the parliamentary representative in East Kingstown.
