Dougan, who served as Chief Education Officer for five years, has been promoted to the post of Cabinet Secretary. She replaces Bernard Morgan, who has gone on pre-retirement leave.

deShong, who had been Dougan’s deputy at the Ministry of Education, has been promoted to the post of Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Transport and Works. He had served in the Ministry of Education for 11-and-a-half years. Four of those years were spent as Deputy Chief Education Officer.

Former Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Transport and Works Andreas Wickham has been transferred to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Commerce and Trade to replace Patricia Martin who is on pre-retirement leave.

The post of Chief Education Officer will be filled by Gilchrist, in an acting capacity. Prior to her new appointment she held the post of Local Registrar in the Ministry of Education.

Gilchrist’s acting deputy will be Beverley Neptune who had held the post of Education Officer for Health and Family Life in the Ministry of Education. (HN)
