Diplomats present credentials

The recently appointed Ambassador of the Federation of Russia to St. Vincent and the Grenadines, His Excellency Mr. Pavel A. Sergiev, presented his credentials at Government House, to His Excellency the Governor General, Sir Frederick Ballantyne, on Monday.{{more}}

Mr. Sergiev, who has been in the diplomatic service since 1973, has held several ambassadorial postings, including to the United Nations, the Peoples Republic of China, the United Mexican States and the Republic of Cuba.

The itinerary for his visit included courtesy calls on Prime Minister – Dr. the Hon. Ralph Gonsalves, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Commerce and Trade – Hon. Sir Louis Straker, Minister of Tourism, Youth and Sports – Hon. Glen Beache, Minister of Transport and Works – Hon. Clayton Burgin, and the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Urban Development, Culture, Labour and Electoral Matters – Mr. Andreas Wickham. He left the State on Wednesday. The Russian Ambassador will be based in Guyana.

The High Commissioner-designate of Australia to St. Vincent and the Grenadines, His Excellency Mr. Phillip Kentwell also visited St. Vincent and the Grenadines this week to pay a courtesy call on His Excellency the Governor General and present his letter of introduction to Prime Minister, Dr. Ralph Gonsalves.

He also met with Foreign Affairs Minister – Sir Louis Straker on Tuesday, and with representatives of the Hotel Association, the Chamber of Commerce and the Cricket Association before leaving the State later in the week.
