Health Minister appeals for discipline in the use of water
Minister for Health, Wellness, Environmental Health and Energy, Daniel Cummings, has addressed the ongoing drought conditions affecting St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG), highlighting the growing challenges surrounding the country’s water supply and the measures being taken to address the situation.
Speaking on NBC Radio on Thursday, April 14, 2026, Minister Cummings explained that the drought has significantly reduced water production from rivers across mainland St Vincent.
“What we have now is significant reduction in the yield from the rivers on the mainland,” he stated. As a result, the Central Water and Sewerage Authority (CWSA) has been forced to implement water rationing measures in several communities.
Minister Cummings said residents may experience periods where their water supply is temporarily interrupted, and noted that many people living on the mainland are accustomed to having continuous access to running water and may find the current restrictions difficult to adjust to.
