Grenadines residents promised a consistent supply of water
MINISTER OF POST SECONDARY EDUCATION, Terrance Ollivierre, who also has responsibility for Grenadines Affairs, has assured residents of the Grenadines that efforts are continuing to ensure they obtain a consistent supply of water despite the on-going shortage that is affecting the islands. Ollivierre said the government remains committed to making sure residents of the Southern Grenadines continue to receive water while longer-term solutions are being explored.
Speaking on Saturday, April 9, 2026 on a programme of the Agency for Public Information (API), Ollivierre explained that the process of transporting water from mainland to the Grenadines is still ongoing.
“We are continuing the process of supplying water from mainland St Vincent via the boat,” the Minister of Local Government, Airports, Seaports also said, noting that a boat was scheduled to travel that weekend to the Grenadines with Mayreau and Union Island among the islands expected to benefit from the delivery. In addition to the transportation of water by boat, Minister Ollivierre said measures have also been put in place to improve the distribution process once the water arrives on the islands. “We have also arranged where the CWSA trucks will be available, and also smaller transportation on the island would be available to make sure that they are able to carry water at different locations throughout the island.”
