Former $280,000 Jackpot winner accused of theft

A Stubbs/Lodge Village woman, who won a Lottery jackpot in excess of a quarter million dollars in 2018, sobbed outside the courtroom on Monday, after she was charged with stealing EC$76,244.

Julianna Aberdeen appeared at the Serious Offences Court before Senior Magistrate, Colin John on March 31, 2025, where she was charged with stealing EC$76,244 in cash, the property of Grace Kennedy Money Services Ltd.

Aberdeen was also alleged to have dishonestly, with a view to gain for herself or another the sum of EC$76,244, falsified accounts made or required for accounting purposes with intent to cause loss to Grace Kennedy Money Services Ltd.

The offences are alleged to have occurred between September 4, 2023 and March 6, 2024 at Arnos Vale. The woman denied both charges and was granted bail in the sum of $8,000 with one surety.

The matter was adjourned and transferred to the Kingstown Magistrate’s Court for April 11, 2025. Aberdeen was sitting outside the courtroom wiping away tears as she waited for her surety to sign her bail.
