SVG Tennis strengthens relationship with ITF

The St. Vincent and the Grenadines Tennis Association (SVGTA) continues to build upon its successful campaign to enhance the sport of Tennis by strengthening the relationship with the world governing body of Tennis, the International Tennis Federation (ITF).{{more}}

Anthony Jeremiah, ITF Development Officer for the English speaking Caribbean, visited SVG from January 29th to February 1st to assess and review the current status of Tennis in SVG. During his visit, Jeremiah visited with various Tennis schools and coaches, met with the Executive of the SVGTA and the National Olympic Committee regarding the ongoing Development of a National Sports Structure in Tennis Project with ITF Expert and Tutor, John Geode.

Saturday’s activities were highlighted with an open invitation to all schools, coaches and parents to the National Tennis Centre in Villa where Jeremiah and Goede conducted specific meetings with players, parents and coaches to disseminate information and opportunities for Junior Tennis players and coaches.

A special presentation was made by Jeremiah to 13 & Under Junior Tennis players and parents. The motivational session challenged the young players’ participation which created a constructive discussion for all present.

This Saturday, February 6, Coach Goede will host a Tennis clinic and fun matches with the U14 age category at 2PM and U10 age category at 4PM. A coaches’ meeting will follow at 6PM.

The Executive of the SVGTA recognizes the many improvements and modifications required in policies to enhance delivery of services, policies such as Child Protection, ongoing Coaches Education, Tournaments and other Tennis events.
