Taiwan Navy squadron visits SVG after more than two decades
St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) and the Republic of China, Taiwan, may be worlds apart, but a visit by the R.O.C. Navy 2026 Midshipmen Cruising and Training Squadron from April 14 to 16, 2026 made that distance feel profoundly less.

That was the feeling of Ambassador of the Republic of China (Taiwan), Fiona Huei-Chun Fan, as she spoke at a welcome ceremony on the arrival of the squadron to St Vincent and the Grenadines.
The Navy Voyager ‘s arrival after their 50 days across the ocean, filled Ambassador Fan with deep emotion and pride.
“Most of all, I’m truly grateful for your presence our esteemed guest, to extend the generosity of hospitality this squadron,” she said at a reception on Tuesday at the Cruise Ship Terminal following a tour on board.
“It was a truly significant and historic occasion as it has been more than two decades since the Taiwanese naval fleet last visited.”
The Squadron, led by Rear Admiral Squadron Commander Ming Feng Chen, that comprised more than 600 officers and sailors, commemorates 45 years of diplomatic relationships between SVG and Taiwan.
