Residents traumatised by Stoney Grounds brazen daylight shooting
Last Friday, April 10, 2026, a brazen daylight shooting at Stoney Grounds on the outskirts of the capital, Kingstown, not only left two persons dead and one nursing injury, but also resulted in many persons shaken and scared.
Dead is Enrique John, 29, and Raheem Guy, 22, both of Layou. They were shot and were subsequently pronounced dead at the scene.
As bullets rang out in the usually quite area, a man with a gun was seen running past others, while people were running for cover.
One eyewitness recalled seeing the man standing in the yard of Massey in the parking area, shooting. He recounted that he “dropped to the ground in the front of the supermarket”.
“I was in Randy’s when I heard the shots; they were very loud and sounded near, so I ran behind the shelves,” another person said.
“I was coming out of the yard, and I heard the shots coming from above Massey down the road; there were plenty and loud,” still another recounted.
Persons in the various businesses in the Russell complex record children “screaming and hiding.”
“He was standing in the yard just shouting, and a guy was running. He jumped over the wall by Randy’s,” another person in the vicinity of the shooting said.
“I was in the parking lot, I was so scared I didn’t know what to do, I started to run holding my head. I was so frightened I couldn’t sleep Friday and Saturday night, all now I still frightened,” an eye witness said, recalling a child who was nearby crying and shaking.
