The youths, aged 10 to 16 have been training for 2-3 days a week since school began in September. In addition to their training regimen, the youths have been participating in 5K runs around St. Vincent, sponsored by Team Athletic SVG.

“The kids have been very dedicated. It’s exciting to see their enthusiasm be recognised and rewarded,” says Bethany Jenkins, a team coach along with Dwight Baptiste and Shelby Kimbrough.

The youths, Linda McDowall, Caswell Lewis, Conniss King, Godwyn Roban and Shonari Ellis will participate in the 10K on Saturday, December 5th, then stay to watch both the marathon and half marathon the following day. The youngest participants, Godwyn and Shonari, are especially excited about the trip. They were chosen from among 12 peers in the Pamelus Burke Primary School Running Group because they were the most hard-working and reliable participants.

This trip was made possible through donations provided by the National Lotteries Authority and Aunt Jobe’s Market.
