Park Hill farmer pleads guilty to handling stolen ginger

A 45-year-old farmer of Park Hill, who pleaded guilty to a charge of handling stolen goods was fined, bonded, and ordered to make restitution when he appeared at the Colonaire Magistrate’s Court on April 28, 2025.

A police release said Everoy Cameron John, pleaded guilty to dishonestly receiving a quantity of stolen ginger the property of a 43-year-old farmer, also of Park Hill on January 21, 2025 at Park Hill.

He was arrested on April 25, 2025 and charged that he, knowing or believing that a quantity of ginger was stolen, dishonestly received the goods for his own benefit.

Following John’s guilty plea, the magistrate fined him EC$250.00 to be paid by May 12, 2025, in default of which he will spend one month in prison. The magistrate also placed John on a nine-month bond in the amount of EC$900.00; if he breaks the bond, he will spend three months in prison. A restitution order was also issued, requiring the defendant to return the stolen goods to the complainant.
