Questions on bail arise after known criminal is charged again
QUESTIONS ARE AGAIN being raised about the granting of bail to people who have been charged with serious crimes.
The recent discussions have been spurred by allegations and the latest court appearance of Quincy Boyde, a known offender who is now facing a slew of fresh charges alongside two other men.
On September 3, 2026, the police arrested and charged Boyde, a 30-year-old labourer of Rillan Hill/PoleYard, with the offences of theft, illegal possession of a firearm, and illegal possession of ammunition.
According to investigations, the accused allegedly entered the dwelling house of a 73-year-old retired army veteran of Arnos Vale/USA as a trespasser and stole a quantity of items.
Boyde appeared before the Kingstown Magistrate Court on September 4, 2026, where he pleaded not guilty to the charges, and was granted bail in the sum of EC$10,000 with one surety.
Additionally, Boyde, Anthony Williams, 23, a labourer of Rose Place; and Tevin Robinson, 32, a painter of Green Hill have been jointly charged for possession of articles intended for use in the commission of an offence.
