Man shot and killed in his porch in Belmont

On Monday June 24, 2024, 26-year-old Kezron “Kezzie” DeShong was on the veranda of the rented Belmont apartment where he lived when a gunman launched an attack, firing more than 12 rounds at him.

DeShong was wounded during the attack which took place around 10:00 p.m. He was rushed to the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital (MCMH), where he died. The young man is recorded as this country’s 22nd homicide for 2024.

A man who told SEARCHLIGHT on Wednesday that he heard the shots that ended DeShong’s life, described the deceased as quiet and not a trouble maker in the area.

He said DeShong was not originally from Belmont, but had been living there for a while. The dreadlocked man said neighbours are confused about what could have caused someone to want to kill DeShong. The police in a release, said they are carrying out investigations into this latest homicide and are appealing to anyone with information that may help in the investigations of this or any other murder, to pass this information over to the police.

DeShong’s murder is one of five which have taken place over a 10-day period in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG).
