Ottley Hall man granted bail for 8 charges including pointing a gun with intent
An Ottley Hall man, who appeared in court to answer eight charges, including for pointing a gun at another man with intent, has been granted bail in the sum of EC$20,000.
Enrico Johnney appeared at the Kingstown Magistrate’s Court before Senior Magistrate Colin John on Tuesday, December 5, where eight charges were laid against him, all of which are alleged to have been committed on the same day and place, November 3, 2023 at Campden Park.
Johnney was charged that by force, he did take Recardo Hazell of Lower Questelles from the Government Warehouse to Sea Operations, and being armed with a gun robbed Recardo Hazell of Lower Questelles of one cellular phone, brand unknown, valued EC$150 and one black Flow cell phone valued EC$300, total value EC$450, the property of Recardo Hazell of Lower Questelles; and at the time of doing so and in order to do so, put the said Recardo Hazell in fear of being there and then subjected to force.
He is also charged that without lawful excuse, he damaged one chain-link fence valued EC$500, the property of Sea Operations Ltd Campden Park intending to damage such property, and he did assault Kenroy John of Campden Park by pointing a firearm at him with intent to wound him.
Johnney is charged that he entered the Sea Operations Bunk House as a trespasser and at the time had with him a firearm; and that he assaulted Tevon Baptiste of Sandy Bay causing actual bodily harm.
He is also charged that without lawful excuse, he damaged one chain-link fence value EC$800, the property of Eastern Caribbean Bottlers Inc intending to damage such property; and, he entered upon the yard of the Eastern Caribbean Bottlers Inc with the intent to commit Theft.
These charges were laid indictably, so he was not required to plea.
Prosecutor Corlene Samuel did not object to bail. She however asked that Johnney indicate to the court where he resides.
The magistrate then granted Johnny bail in the sum of $20,000 with one surety. However, he was remanded in custody as no one appeared at the court with the relevant documents to sign bail on his behalf.
John also ordered Johnney to report to the Central Police Station between 8 am-8 pm on Mondays and Fridays. Stop notices are also placed at all ports of entry and exit, and he is to surrender all travel documents. The matter was adjourned to January 15, 2023 at the Serious Offences Court.
