Jam-packed calendar of events for Independence month

Over twenty events, including football matches, soca shows, church services and health walks, are being hosted in October as part of the 2022 Independence program.

The SVG Independence Committee hosted the official launch of the program on Tuesday at Victoria Park, attended by stakeholders in the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Education and the cultural and creative sector.

The theme for the 43rd anniversary of Independence, Our Resilience! Our Fortitude! Our People! was conceptualized by Samantha Burnett, who was the winner of a slogan competition hosted by the Carnival Development Corporation (CDC).

Highlight events for Independence month of activities include:

• Hairouna Formosa Creative Arts Festival – October 13th at Russell’s Auditorium
• Independence Church Service – October 23rd at the St. George’s Catherdral
• Lions Club Public Speaking Competition – Finals October 25th to be streamed online
• Queen of Calypso Competition – October 15th at Victoria Park
• Pink Cap Walk – October 21st at Heritage Square
• Vincy Moves – October 22nd at the E. T Joshua Complex
• Pan Activities – October 23rd at E.T Joshua Complex
• Invest SVG EXPO – October 24th, Venue TBA
• Independence School Rally – October 25th at Victoria Park
• Motor Sports Activities – TBA
• Vincy Masters Football Competition – October 27th to 30th in Arnos Vale
• Madongo Festival – October 27th at Rabacca
• Miss SVG 2022 – October 29th at Arnos Vale Sporting Complex
• Sokah Chronicles – October 30th at Arnos Vale Sporting Complex
