It has been confirmed that Swedish company Ericsson will take over LIME’s technical services this month.{{more}}

In fact, SEARCHLIGHT has been reliably informed that the foreign company is expected to begin operating here from next Monday, February 17.

Confirmation of the take over came from Country Manager, Leslie Jack who said that the change was supposed to take effect from the middle of the month.

According to Jack, about 98 percent of the former staff had been rehired.

This follows an announcement made by the LIME country manager in September 2013 that it was too soon to determine the fate of the said employees following massive job cuts by the company in Barbados and Jamaica.

Back then, Jack had confirmed that LIME was engaged in discussions with Ericsson – and that the company would be taking over the technical services of the company.

According to a report which appeared in the Barbadian press, 200 LIME employees in Barbados were expected to go home in September 2013 and in May some 305 LIME employees in Jamaica were laid off as a result of the deal with Ericsson. (DD)
