PSC announces acting appointment of Permanent Secretaries in the Public Service
The Public Service Commission (PSC), has announced the appointment of seven persons as acting permanent secretaries within the public service. The PSC said in a release that these positions became available as the result of the creation of three new ministries, and the retirement of some permanent secretaries. The appointments took effect as of yesterday, June 8, 2026.
Giselle Myers has been appointed permanent secretary in the Ministry of Fisheries,Maritime, Land Conservation and Climate Change. Colville King has been elevated to the position of permanent secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Transformation. Dornette Hull, Town Planner in the Physical Planning Department, is now the permanent secretary in the Ministry of Housing, Land Management, Urban Development and Informal Settlement Upgrading. Angelita Miller is named as permanent secretary in the Ministry of the Family, Gender Affairs, Persons with Disabilities, Local Government and Labour. In the Ministry of Youth, Sports, Culture and Creative Industries, Rommel Currency takes on the responsibility of permanent secretary. Donna Joyette-Bascombe takes up responsibility as permanent secretary in the Ministry of Tourism and Sustainable Development; and Joanne Benjamin-DaSilva has been named permanent secretary in the Ministry of Health, Wellness, Environmental Health and Energy.
Michelle Forbes, former Head of NEMO is also functioning in an acting capacity as permanent secretary in the in the Ministry of National Security, Disaster Management, and Immigration. Her temporary acting appointment took effect from May 11, 2026 and will run to the end of August, 2026 as the effective office holder of that post is currently off on leave.
The PSC said the Governor-General Sir Stanley John (KC), “acting on the advice of the Public Service Commission, given with the consent of the Honourable Prime Minister, has granted approval” for the appointments that became effective from June 8, 2026, and until further notice.
