“The name Carriere has now become synonymous with Nine Mornings, the village having won the best 9 Mornings community on more occasions than any other, that being four, and so we welcome the 100 years celebration and will make our contribution to this event in grand style,” a release from the organizers said.

The activity on November 15 will take the form of a mini concert and will include speeches from a few people including the Minister of Culture Cecil Mckie.

The event will hear local gospel performances and other performances from Carlton CP Hall, the Bowmans, Rose Hall Bum Drummers among others. The origins of Nine Mornings will be highlighted and residents will also reflect on Nine Mornings of old and how it differs today. There will also be a taste of Nine Mornings with the tight pants competition, so persons are encouraged to come prepared to enter this competition, the release said.

One of the highlights for Friday’s activity will be the launch of two Christmas boxes, one for food donations and the other for toys, new or used. Persons attending the event are being encouraged to bring along at least one non-perishable food item or a toy to drop into the boxes. These items will be distributed during the Christmas period to the less fortunate among us.

“Persons attending Friday’s event can expect to feel as though it is Christmas. It is anticipated that following this pre-Christmas show the excitement towards the launch of our Christmas Lighting and 9 Mornings Festival will continue to grow,” the release said.
