Canouan laborer charged with robbery and assault of businessman

A 25-year-old labourer from Canouan was granted bail after he appeared at the Kingstown Magistrate Court for charges relating to robbery which occurred in the Grenadine island.

Erasto DaSilva was arraigned on September 15 for two charges: robbing a 29-year-old Rockies businessman of $2,000 EC and inflicting actual bodily harm on the said complainant by striking him on his face and about his body with his hands.

The incident occurred at Friendship, Canouan on September 2, 2023, at about 8:25 pm.

DaSilva was not required to enter a plea to the indictable charge. He was bailed in the sum of $8,000 EC with one surety on the conditions he must avoid all contact with the complainant and report at the Canouan Police Station every Friday between 7 am and 7 pm.

The matter was transferred to the Serious Offences Court. The date for the preliminary inquiry was set for November 30, 2023.
