Vincentian national wanted in Florida for fraud

A warrant has been issued by the Monroe County Sheriff in Florida, USA for a national of St. Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG).

The suspect, 25-year-old Erasto DaSilva, is wanted in connection with a number of offences- namely, two counts of fraud impersonation where it is alleged that he used the identification of a person without their consent to obtain up to $10,000. The bond amount which the court set for the charges is listed at $70,000, and the warrant was issued by the Monroe County Court in Key West, Florida, on March 22, 2023.

SEARCHLIGHT was informed by the Sheriff’s Department that there is also a second warrant for DaSilva issued from the same court on July 12, 2022 for exploitation of an elderly person over age 65, in obtaining between $10,000 and $50,000.

A wanted notice was also issued for DaSilva informing the public that his last known residence and the area where his alleged victims live is Cudjoe Key community.

A monetary reward is being offered for information relating to DaSilva’s arrest.

SEARCHLIGHT understands that the suspect, who is originally from the Grenadines, represented a local secondary school and the country as an athlete and was awarded a scholarship in 2016 to pursue further studies abroad.
