Paralympians complete 3-day capacity building workshop

Members of the National Paralympic Committee of St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG), who were part of a three- day workshop are now mandated to make their organisation more visible, whilst strengthening their internal structure.

The workshop held at Kims Building, Kingstown, was facilitated by Juan Chong of Peru, on behalf of the

International Paralympic Committee (IPC). Chong noted that the overarching objective of the workshop was to create a strategic plan for the National Paralympic Committee (NPC), so they can have it as a roadmap to excel and improve the para sports system within the country.

Hence, with the workshop concluded, the task is for Rudi Daniel, Head of the NPC of SVG to carry out this mandate.

During the workshop, participants learnt how to build athlete development pathway; how to map strategic allies and strategic partners, to empower the Paralympic movement here in the country; how to reach communities; how to build grassroots strategies to detect people; as well as how to report, monitor, and evaluate part the sport’s development programme.

Chong stressed that the workshop aligned with the workings of the IPC’S Toyota Mobility Foundation,whose objective “is to empower and strengthen the capacities of National Paralympic Committees around the world, so they can improve in terms of governance and increase the level of para sports within the country”.
