Swimmers gave good account at CAC Games
Punching above their weight class, the two Vincentian swimmers Hazel Dabriel and Zariel Nelson, gave a good account of themselves, when they competed at the 2026 Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Games in the Dominican Republic.
The swimming segment of the Games held July 28 to August 1, at the Complejo Acuatico Centro Olimpico, saw Dabriel swimming in six events and Nelson in three.
Dabriel reached the finals of the Male 50 meters Backstroke, the 100-m Backstroke and the 200-m Backstroke, registering times of 29.41s, 1:03.56 and 2:20.65, respectively.
In the preliminaries of the 50-m Freestyle, Dabriel’s time was 25.34s, while in the 100-m Freestyle, his timing was 56.39s.
In the 200-m Individual Medley, Dabriel clocked 2:29.98.
Meanwhile, Nelson’s time in the Female 50-m Freestyle was 27.59s; the 100-m Freestyle 1:03.95, and the 50-m Butterfly-30.62s.
Dabriel and Nelson were accompanied to the Games by coach Tamarah St Hilaire.
Apart from Swimming, St Vincent and the Grenadines was represented at the XXV CAC Games in Track and Field, as well as Sailing.
