Sixteen teams in Breakaway Masters Football Tournament
Sixteen teams, eight in the Firms Division, and eight in the Under-19 Male Division constitute the competition line up for the 2026 ACADO Breakaway Masters Organisation Football Tournament.
The number represents a significant reduction from last year’s tournament, when 26 teams competed in three divisions.
The reduction in the numbers, according to Games Secretary of the tournament Claude Millington, was not due to any action of the Breakaway Masters organisation.
“A few of the firms indicated that some of the players are no longer employees, whilst one said they had taken internal disciplinary action,” he explained.
As it relates to not having an Under-17 Division, Millington said the St Vincent and the Grenadines Football Federation(SVGFF), dissuaded them based on the governing body’s intent to host a similar competition.
Despite the fall off in participating teams, Millington is optimistic of another successful tournament.
Listed in the Firms Division are new comers Facey Trading and Sandals Resort. They are joined by other regular participants Fisheries; National Lotteries Authority; KFC Combined; Coreas/ Hazells; RSVG Police; and defending champions Ck Greaves.
Already jumping out is Sandals Resorts who defeated fellow debutants Facey Trading 3-0 in Saturday’s opening fixture.
Also making an early start was Fisheries, who edged out RSVG Police 1-0, whilst CK Greaves was held to a 2-2 draw by KFC Combine.
Meanwhile, the Under-19 outfits have been increased by two, from six in 2025.
Seeking honours are System Three; United Force; Je Belle; Toni Stores Jugglers; Adare; North Leeward Predators; and Fisheries.
The Breakaway Masters Football Tournament started in 2011 with a Firms Division.
