No licence,no Football league says Football Association President

Community Football Leagues affiliated to the St Vincent and the Grenadines Football Federation (SVGFF) who want to operate here in St Vincent and the Grenadines must get a licence to do so, as of 2027.

Making the mandatory licensing requirement, was President of the SVGFF Otashie Spring, while addressing players, officials and spectators at the opening of the 2026 ACADO Breakaway Masters Organisation Football, on Saturday, August 8, 2026 at the Richmond Hill Playing Field.

“This is the last year that affiliated leagues across the length and breadth of St Vincent and the Grenadines will be operating without a licence,” Spring stated.

Essentially, the licensing of Football entities here is status-driven, ascertaining the organizational structures as well as verification of personnel, bank or credit union accounts, coaching staff, among other prerequisites.

Spring, therefore, called on affiliated leagues to comply as it is all for development.

“Licence is not something we ought to fear; licence is designed to bring greater structure, greater organisation, greater administrative empowerment and strength that leagues are in a much better position to deliver what we want them to deliver,” Spring stated.

Under the current dispensation, leagues need clearance from the secretariat of the SVGFF, as well as permission of the National Sports Council.

In addition, the SVGFF provides them with in-kind support inclusive of balls, and other items.
