SVG in cellar position at Windwards Games

St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG), remained in the cellar position in the latest edition of the CBN/ Winlott Inc. Windward Islands Schools Games (WISG) which ended on Saturday, August 1, 2026 in St Lucia.

TRACK AND FIELD team made great improvements

St Vincent and the Grenadines tallied the least number of points overall among the four islands- Grenada, Dominica, St Lucia and St Vincent and the Grenadines to retain position number four on a fourth straight occasion, continuing from 2019, 2023, and 2025.

Host St Lucia, topped the standings with 37 points. Dominica was second on 29 points, whilst dethroned champions Grenada, finishing third on 27 points, and St Vincent and the Grenadines brought up the rear with 19 points.

A team got seven points for winning a discipline; five points for placing second, three for a third place; and one point if they placed fourth.

The Vincentians’ tally came from three second places in Track and Field, Netball, and Female Volleyball, but placed last in the other disciplines- Football, Male Volleyball as well as Male and Female Basketball.

SVG was second to Grenada in Track and Field, and trailed St Lucia in Netball and Female Volleyball.

St Lucia also won Football, with Dominica taking Male Volleyball, along with Female and Male Basketball.

The stand-outs for St Vincent and the Grenadines were Lazaro Lynch- Football, Amunique Edwards- Netball; Nayelli Fergus- Female Volleyball; Kyjorn Williams- Male Volleyball; Elvis Woods- Male Basketball and Azumi Quow- Female Basketball.

Dominica is the designated host for the 2027 edition of the Windward Islands Schools’ Games.
