Shafiqua delivers Bronze medal at CAC
Vincentian Shafiqua Maloney, trailed Mariliedy Paulino of the Dominican Republic and Roxana Gomez of Cuba in the final of the women’s 400 meters at the Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Games on Wednesday evening August 5,
2026, at the Felix Sanchez Olympic Stadium in the Dominican Republic.
Maloney, whose main event is the 800-m clocked 51.77 seconds, behind Paulino’s swift 48.94-s and Gomez’s 49.99-s.
Maloney earned a berth in the final, when she ran 51.22-s in the heats.
Meanwhile, her fellow Vincentian Amal Glasgow placed sixth in the men’s 400-m final in a time of 45.76-s. He gained entry to the final, when he clocked 45.78-s in the semi-finals.
Both Maloney and Glasgow had jetted across from Scotland, where they took part of the Commonwealth Games.
Maloney place sixth in the 800-m final, whilst Glasgow after getting past the heats, did not make it beyond the semi-finals.
