Football Federation appoints Michael Findlay to head Senior Men’s National programme

The St. Vincent and the Grenadines Football Federation (SVGFF) has announced that it has appointed Michael Findlay of Canada as Head Coach of the senior men’s national programme.

The SVGFF said in a release that Findlay takes over from Vincentian Ezra Hendrickson, who served in the position from August 2024 to February 2026. He resigned in March,2026 to take up “a professional opportunity” overseas.

The SVGFF has hailed Findlay as a highly respected Football coach and technical leader who is the holder of the prestigious UEFA Pro Licence, the highest coaching qualification awarded in European Football.

“He brings with him decades of technical and leadership experience at the international level and elite Football programmes, having served in senior coaching in his native Canada, Grenada as well as Bermuda,” the SVGFF stated.

Findlay’s appointment is for an initial 24 months which the Federation said underscores its strategic vision and commitment to raise the standard of Football in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, while implementing a long-term high-performance strategy. In his new role, Findlay will provide technical leadership for the Senior Men’s National Team and oversee the development and alignment of the Under-20 and Under-23 Men’s National Teams.

“His mandate is to establish a clear player pathway, implement aid in further modernising our existing Football philosophy, and strengthen the Federation’s national team programme from youth to senior level.”

The SVGFF said further that during Findlay’s tenure, it will pursue several key objectives, including:

Promotion to League A of the Concacaf Nations League; qualification for the Concacaf Gold Cup; continued development of a competitive national programme capable of challenging the region’s leading Football nations; build a sustainable pathway towards qualification for the 2030 FIFA World Cup; and work closely with the Federation’s Technical Department, coaches, clubs, and stakeholders to implement the SVGFF’s strategic Football development plan.

In welcoming Findlay, President of the SVGFF Otashie Spring, described his appointment as another significant milestone in the Federation’s Football development strategy.

“The appointment of Michael Findlay represents a major investment in the future of football in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. His international experience, technical expertise, and leadership qualities align perfectly with the vision of this Executive Committee” Spring is quoted to have said.

“ We are committed to building a sustainable, high-performance football programme, and we believe Michael is the right person to lead us as we pursue promotion to League A, qualification for the Concacaf Gold Cup, and ultimately position ourselves to compete for a place at the 2030 FIFA World Cup.”

The SVGFF said it looks forward to a successful partnership with Findlay that inspires players, coaches, supporters, and the wider football community.
