Blue Marlins hails “learn to swim” camp a success

The Blue Marlins Swim Club held its first ever summer learn to swim camp from July 13 to 31, 2026 hailing the three-week exercise a success.

The camp was opened to youngsters 3-16 years old, and the management of Blue Marlins said in a release that they saw it necessary to have such a camp to expose children who would otherwise not be able to make swim training on a regular basis. Through the swim camp, they were exposed to much needed exposure and introduction to the sport of swimming in a fun and pressure-free environment. The club said participants also enjoyed other activities alongside swimming, such as arts and craft, fun sports, and snorkelling which was especially well received as the young swimmers got to appreciate the beautiful world under the sea.

Blue Marlins notes that swimming is a life skill which they would like to see many more Vincentians possess, pointing out that in each of the past five years at least one person has drowned in St Vincent and the Grenadines.

“Blue Marlins Swim Club is on a mission to get more of SVG swimming, and this swim camp was just the start,” the club stated in its release.

It has expressed appreciation to a number of friends of the club whose generosity made the camp possible, as well as coaches and parents for entrusting their young ones to the care of Blue Marlins.

“Learning to swim is a very important skill for Vincentians since the island is surrounded by water and has many rivers. Break the cycle. Enrol in a Blue Marlins learn to swim class today.”
