SVG slips in WISG after promising start

ST.VINCENT ANDTHE Grenadines fell away in the 2026 CBN/ Winlott Inc. Windward Islands Schools Games (WISG), which concludes in St Lucia, Saturday, August 1.

When the games got going on Saturday, July 25, St Vincent and the Grenadines ended in a promising second place in Track and Field.

Ending on 2220 points, St Vincent and the Grenadines trailed Grenada- 282 points.

Dominica was third on 207 points and St Lucia-193 points.

Highlighting the Track and Field, were double individual gold medals for AJ Deplecshe and Zekisha Kelly.

The duo were sprint champions, winning 100m and 200m male and female respectively.

Delpesche took the 100m in 10.33s and the 200m-20.99, while Kelly clocked 12.13s in the 100m and 25.06s in the 200m.

Delpesche copped a third gold, when he teamed up with Teron Muckette, Jadelle Hector and Leemore Ollivierre to win the 4 x 400m in 3:20.48.

Ollivierre won the Boys 400m with a 48.56s clocking, whilst Trevel Sylvan won the Boys High Jump with a leap of 1.96m.

St Vincent and the Grenadines also secured six silver medals. Among them the Boys Long Jump achieved by Kareem Davis-6.95m;Toccara Barbour, the Girls Discus-32.49m; Kylar Jeffrey, the Girls Shot Putt-9.95m, Kenisha Richards, the Girls 200m in 12.19s, with Leemore Ollivierre clocking 21.35 in the 200m.

Ollivierre, Muckett, Delpesche and Hector took silver in the 4 x 100m in a time of 42.19s.

There were five bronze medals pouched by St Vincent and the Grenadines’ athletes.

Kareem Davis was third in the Triple Jump-14.07m; Kesiann John, Girls Long Jump-5.09m,Teron Muckett- High Jump- 1.85m.

In the Boys Discus, Neovor Nanton flung 32.30m to gain a bronze and Kobe Ollivierre in the Boys 800m was third in a time of 1:59.03.
