Eight named for Commonwealth Games 2026

A contingent of eight have been selected to represent St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG),at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland which opened yesterday, July 23, and runs to August 2.

There are five Track and Field athletes, and three swimmers.

Those competing in Track and Field are Handal Roban, Shafiqua Maloney, Uroy Ryan, Mc Kish Compton and Amal Glasgow; whilst the swimmers are Alexander Joachim, Matthew Ballah and Kennice Greene.

The Track and Field component of the Commonwealth Games takes place from July 27 to August 1, at the EDF Scotstown Stadium, while Swimming is takes place at the Tollcross International Swimming Centre from today, July 24 to July 29.

Claude Bascombe Jr. is the Chief de Mission of the SVG contingent; Amber Glasgow- the Team Manager; and Alexandra Walrond the Safeguarding Officer.

The coaches are Chester Morgan and Ryan Foster- Track and Field, and Anwar Medjahed- Swimming.

The XXIII Commonwealth Games has been scaled down to 10 disciplines: Track and Field, Swimming, along with Artistic Gymnastics, 3 x 3 Basketball, Bowls, Boxing, Judo, Netball, Track Cycling, and Weightlifting.

They will run parallel with the Para events that include 3 x 3 Wheelchair Basketball, Para Bowls, Para Athletics, Para Powerlifting, Para Swimming and Para Track Cycling.
