Ryan and Maloney win gold

Uroy Ryan and Shafiqua Maloney were gold medallists in their outings last weekend.

Ryan, who was St Vincent and the Grenadines’ lone representative at the 2026 North American, Central American and Caribbean Athletic Association (NACAC) Under-18 and Under-23 championships, held in Mexico from July 10 to 12, won the men’s Long Jump.

Ryan’s 8.04 meters was the best leap at the Estadio Una Nueva Historia in Apizaco, Tlaxcala.

In the process, Ryan added the NACAC Under-23 gold medal to his Under-18 title won in San Jose Costa Rica,in 2021.

Meanwhile, Maloney won the women’s 800-m at the Ed Murphy Classic in a time of 1:58.72.

Second to Maloney was Natoya Goule of Jamaica whose time was 2:00.50, and third was the USA’s Honour Finley, who stopped the clock at 2:01.17.

Maloney also won the 800-m title in 2025.

The Ed Murphy Track Classic was held in Memphis, Tennessee, USA.
