Jayden George goes six straight at Junior CASA
For a sixth straight edition of the Caribbean Area Squash Association (CASA) tournament, Vincentian, Jayden George has been crowned champion.
He thus retained the Under-17 singles title when the 2026 tournament was held at the Tortola Sports Club in the British Virgin Islands.
George’s pathway to the title saw him registering 3-0 wins over his opponents.
He saw off Ethan Miller 11-8, 11-4, 11-6; Nixon Callender 11-1, 11-0, 11-0, Aiden De Freitas, 11-7, 11-2, 11-6, and Ross D’ Juran 12-10, 11-3, 11-3.
In the process, George etched an unprecedented accomplishment, as he is yet to lose a game since making his way through the age groups since 2019 when he won the Under-11 title. George resumed in 2022, by winning the Under-13. Of note is the absence of tournaments in 2020 and 2021 because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
George took the Under-15 title in 2023 and successfully defended it in 2024.
Last year, he confirmed his prowess as one of the Caribbean’s best, when he won the Under-17 title.
Only Cathryn Tyler of the Cayman Islands has notched up more consecutive titles.
Records show that Tyler has seven titles in a row, starting in 1983 when she won the Under-14 and did so again in 1984.
With no competition in 1985, Tyler won the Under-16 title from 1986 to 1988, the Under-19 in 1989.
Skipping 1990, when there was no competition, Tyler resumed her hold on the Under-19 in 1991.
