Akquin Johnson, second in Jamaica Tennis tourney

Akquin Johnson flew the St Vincent and the Grenadines flag at the Mayberry Caribbean Championships in Kington, Jamaica.

Contesting the championships on behalf of the Fuzion Tennis Academy, Johnson had an impressive week, losing in the Boys’ Under-16 final versus Jamaica’s top player Ajani Robinson.

According to reports, Johnson was leading 3-2 in the first set, but a wrist injury resulted in him having to seek medical attention.

Severely affected by the discomfort, Johnson was unable to take the fight to Robinson who prevailed 6-3, 6-2.

The championships took place at the Liguanea Clu, New Kingston, Jamaica, from July 6 to 10, 2026.

A release from the Fuzion Tennis Academy, praised Johnson for his “determination and fight”.
